Topic: Jumping Text

Hi Ange,

I got a new laptop a couple of months ago and since then, for some reason, when I get just past the bottom of the box, the text starts jumping around and I can't see what it is that I'm typing unless I stop and hit the down arrow which then allows me to see what I've typed but when I start typing again, then the text starts jumping around again.  Do you know of any solutions to this?  Thanks so much!

Yeah - I'm not sure - I know with mine somehow the way I use the mouse pad can make it jump websites...

I have a Dell.  Interesting about jumping websites, I don't seem to have that issue but then I don't use an external mouse so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.  A curious mystery!

I'd like to try asking out first.  Is there anyone on the forum that is using internet explorer that is not having the text box jump around when you begin typing at that bottom of the box?  Thanks so much!

I'm somewhat reticent to download Firefox as I don't currently have any virus protection on my computer and am somewhat reticent to download much of anything at the moment.  I have noticed though, when typing on other forums that the text does not jump when I reach the bottom of the box.

I've been experiencing the same difficulty for some time now (I think it began after one of the last updates on the forum).  It only happens on this forum.   I use Explorer.   I tried Firefox and got rid of it because it seemed to cause other problems elsewhere and didn't fix the issue here.  I've simply been working around it as best I can.  For example if I have a long post I will compose it in Word and paste it here.

You may want to try Google Chrome. It has the newest technology and uses less memory than Internet Explorer and Firefox.  Unfortunately, Internet Explorer has fallen behind in their technology and with some of the newer scripts coming out has more difficulty rendering it properly.

Also, you may want to consider getting an antivirus program on your computer. Unfortunately, these days, even if you are just browsing the web and not 'downloading' anything, you can pick up spyware or even be infected by malicious scripts embedded in websites.

The truth is that whenever you are browsing you are downloading. Even sites you trust can be hacked by hackers and have malicious scripts embedded in them. The owner of the site may not even know it until someone tells them (usually because their antivirus software gave them a warning while browsing the site). It is quite common these days. Our forum has been hacked several times the last couple of years. Nothing serious that I was unable to fix right away, but hacked none the less.

If you want a free antivirus, you may want to check out Avast. It works well and is what I use now.
