What are The Four Agreements and The Fifth Agreement?
« on: June 23, 2010, 12:10:03 PM »
Everything we do is based on agreements we have made. In these agreements we tell ourselves who we are, what everyone else is, how to act, what is possible, and what is impossible. What we have agreed to believe creates what we experience. When these agreements come from fear, blocks and obstacles develop keeping us from realizing our greatest potential.
Based on ancient Toltec wisdom , the Four Agreements offer a powerful code of conduct that can rapidly transform our lives and our work into a new experience of effectiveness , balance and self supporting behavior.

  • BE IMPECCABLE WITH YOUR WORD
Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.
  • DON'T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering.
  • DON'T MAKE ASSUMPTIONS
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness, and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.
  • ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST
Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgement, self-abuse, and regret.

Thank you. This is all so clear (and, I am also searching for wording to cast every Agreement in the positive, too). Now, may I ask - what is the Fifth Agreement? Blessings...

ANGE ("Amber")!!!
I am so HAPPY to meet you here, too, Wonder Woman.
Regarding The Fifth Agreement (whihc I'd asked about just now) - I Googled and found it;
"Don't believe me (Don Miguel), don't believe others, don't believe yourself." Got it!
FYI, I "coincidentaly" was referring to the Four Agreements, in a highly significant context, just yesterday (and cannot recall ever before mentioning them to anybody...). Hmmm...
Well, "see" you here at the Four Agreements Forum again soon, dear lady.
Affectiontely,
Beth

With number 2 I got confusion, because as far that I know we suppose to be the light for the next generation
in the eye of JAH. by nature that is responsibility to leave the right example, so I must take it personally to guide them in the right way to have peace of mind, If they choose another way that something else.

So can somebody explain me if I did miss something

And I think number 5 is Have no fear of nothing.

Till again and bless

Brandon.

Hi Brandon,

Not taking things personally is about recognizing that what other people say and do in our lives does not need to take us off center. You have mentioned wanting to help guide others. As a guide, it is important to be able to keep your focus and your attention on what help you are trying to give.

One thing that can make it difficult to guide others in a way that is beneficial is taking things personally. If you are trying to help someone and they do not like what you say and become angry, for example, to truly be able to help them you would need to keep a clear and calm perception of what is going on. If you take their anger personally, go off center and become angry or upset yourself, your own emotions will get in the way of being able to see what you can best do next to help them.

This is, of course only one example. There are many things we can choose not to take personally. We can, with practice, also become aware of judgmental thoughts in our own self we have been taking personally and free ourselves from them.

Love and Light,
Ange

Hi Ange,

Nice meeting you and I wish you all the best and thanks for the respond.
OK I understand what you explain to me but my point was that the younger generation allways look up to the older generation for guidance on how they could live there life and as a humanbeing we allways must try to leave the best example that we are able to behind so they could follow the right path of energies. So what the younger generation do is because of the older generation. Thus somethings you must take personally just like the great force do to inspire or guide all his children.   Right or wrong

One love, bless

Brandon
